10 Essentials Every College Girl Needs In Her Closet

Since the day I was born, I've been addicted to shopping. Well...nothing has changed now that I'm in college! To me, everything in my closet is an essential, but there are items that I could not live without! Below I'm going to talk about my top 10 essential I could not live without in college.

1. A Basic Tee
This is a necessity because you can literally dress up or dress down with a basic tee so easily! I find myself wearing either a black or white one with a cardigan over it when I decide once a semester to not wear an oversized t-shirt to class. My favorite go to T-Shirt is the Must-Have Easy T-Shirt from Hollister. The cost is budget friendly at $14.95 and it comes in black, white, grey, navy blue, olive and pink! Also, the quality of the shirt is really nice and lasts a long time before looking "old" and by tying a knot on either the side or in the middle, it can add some spunk to a basic tee!

2. Oversized T-shirts
Oversized t-shirts are perfect for when you wake up 20 minutes before your 8am or when you want a casual outfit day. They go great with yoga pants, your favorite tennis shoes and a hat. Now, I think we could all agree that when you first get to college and you go to all the welcome week events, you will have a closet full of t-shirts. Also, if you join a sorority, you'll have more t-shirts than anything else in your closet, but if you are like me and like shirts with cute sayings on them, then Jadelynn Brooke is your place! Three sisters started this company together and since then they have came up with the cutest designs like the one below. You can find these shirts on their website or at Dillards!

3. Off The Shoulder Shirts
I think I now own every off the shoulder shirt there is. These are a must for me because I have casual ones I can wear with yoga pants and I also have dressier ones for more work or my sorority meetings. They are great for parties too because you can keep it comfy and cute! By adding a bralette, you can style it up if you think your outfit is missing something. I buy a lot of my off the shoulder shirts from little stores in small towns, but I found a really cute one I wanted to share from Dillard's!

4. Cardigans
These are a necessity to dress up any basic tee and to show off your style! I like to keep a variety of colors and patterns in my closet. I get a lot of my cardigans from American Eagle like this AE LACE BACK CARDIGAN when I am looking for something more casual, but if I want one with a pattern I buy from Haberdash Soul Company. I found out about this cute company when I went to an event called Junk Stock in Omaha. The owner is a mom of three and she hand makes all the cardigans. Here is one of her newest designs for spring: Spring Blossom.

$45.00

5. Yoga Pants
I think every girl knows why yoga pants are a must. When it comes to yoga pants, my favorite is Lululemons. They are very pricy, but they also last a very very long time if you take care of them properly. I didn't realize how important it was to read their washing instructions because if you don't like I didn't, your $100 yoga pants won't last as long as they should! So PSA: Don't put fabric softener in the wash with then, only wash in cold with other athletic clothes and NEVER dry them in the dryer. My favorite is the Speed Up Tight yoga pants in midnight blue. They are pricy a pricy penny at $108, but if you are willing to splurge, they are worth every penny. If you are looking for a pair more cost efficient, my go to store is Victoria's Secret!

Kir
$44.50

6. Bralette
My favorite brand is Aerie by American Eagle! They are super soft, come in many different colors and they often have sales which are always a plus when you are in college! I like to wear them with off the shoulder tops, tanks, or really anything!

7. White Tennis Shoes
I love white tennis shoes because they go with pretty much anything if you are going for a cute casual outfit. You can wear them with jeans, yoga pants, sweats...you name it. They also look really crisp! A tip for keeping them clean is by spraying Spray and Wash all over the shoe and then washing them in hot water every two weeks or so. The pair I wear virtually everywhere is from Lady Foot Locker. They have a good variety of styles to choose from! My favorite pair is below:

8. Heels
I love wearing heels so this is a must in my closet! Not just any heel though, a good quality and most of all comfortable. I buy most of my heels from Dillard's when they have sales or promotions happening. Gianni Bini is the main brand I shop from and that is because every shoe I have ever bought from them I still have in my closet and the quality of the material lasts a long time without looking worn down. Below is a pair that is very similar to a pair I currently have in my closet. They go with most outfits and are comfortable enough to wear to a 4 hour standing concert!
Ibiza Nude
$98.00

9. All Weather Boots
Kansas is funny with how it goes from snowing one day to sunshine and rainbows the next. This is why I have all weather boots in my closet! They are great for rainy summer days and snowy winter days. Below is a cute pair I found on sale at Dillard's!

Rose Dust Sparkle
Org. $99.99  Now $79.99

10. Kendra Scott
Kendra Scott necklaces go with virtually every outfit and they have an incredible selection of colors and styles to choose from. The style I have is the Elisa Pendant Necklace and I wear it practically everyday! TIP TO SAVE MONEY: If you go to the Kendra Scott store during your birthday month and show them your drivers license then you can get anything HALF OFF!

Ivory Mother of Pearl
$50

I hope this helps you for the next time you decide to spruce up your closet!

Until next time,
XOXO Brittney Clark
